Chrome Extension: Language Tool

Tired of students turning in work with the letter “i” uncapitalized? Annoyed with your students’ spelling causing mass chaos on a Google Form answer? Look no further than LanguageTool!

Last year, it was discovered that Grammarly was causing issues with student Chromebooks. Since then, they have been relying on Google Docs/Slides’ spell check tool to fix errors. While this is a start, it certainly doesn’t cover as much as Grammarly did.

LanguageTool is an extension that works well on Chrome but also integrates with Google Docs, Google Forms, and Google Slides. This spelling and grammar checker helps with numerous skills that can improve student writing. It also works within a document or slide to be turned on or off. As an English teacher, this has made a significant change in my students’ work submission, and I’m glad to use this tool to help them out!
