Keyboard shortcuts are a quick way to navigate the web and documents. Instead of using your trackpad or mouse, you can use key combinations to do the tasks you repeat often. The easiest way to add these into your rotation is to jot one down and stick it on your computer in a place you look often. Once you know that shortcut by heart, throw it away and start a new one. These are my favorite timesavers: Ctrl + K to hyperlink, Ctrl + Shift + T to open up the last closed tab in a browser (How many times do you say, whoops, I shouldn’t have closed that?!), and Windows Key + Shift + S to take a screen clipping. My current sticky on my computer is Windows Key + [ . ] (period key) to open up the emoji keyboard. (Believe it or not, I get better email responses when I use emojis in the subject and the body!) If you have a favorite keyboard shortcut, share it with a friend; they’ll thank you for the time you saved them!
