Use AI Responsibly EVERY Time

When teaching middle school Tech Ed, the essential question I frequently asked was, "Is technology good or bad?" After students shared their thoughts and considered both sides of the debate, they came to realize that technology is neither inherently good nor bad. Instead, it depends on how each individual utilizes the technology. This lesson can be applied when discussing the responsible use of AI with students. The EVERY acrostic was created by AI for Education and can be a helpful guide.

Evaluate the initial output to see if it meets the intended purpose and your needs.

Verify facts, figures, quotes, and data using reliable sources to ensure there are no hallucinations or biases.

Edit your prompt and ask follow-up questions to have the AI improve its output.

Revise the results to reflect your unique needs, style, and/or tone. AI output is a great starting point, but shouldn’t be a final product.

You are ultimately responsible for everything you create with AI. Always be transparent about if and how you use AI.
