GoGuardian blocks the website under the "Academic Dishonesty" category. This, however, is a false sense of security. A student who wants to access the site will find a way. They may use their cell phone, a home computer, or find a similar chatbot on the web.
I encourage you to read ChatGPT, Chatbots, and Artificial Intelligence in Education. Matt Miller raises some thought-provoking questions for educators to consider and discuss with colleagues. He suggests blocking ChatGPT (and similar AI tools) may give educators time to adjust to this new technology, but it's not a long-term solution. What are your thoughts?
