Infinite Campus: Posting Grades

Technology is constantly changing. Even if you have posted grades on Infinite Campus for years, please take a moment to review the information below. Spending a few minutes watching a tutorial could save you hours of frustration at the end of the semester.

Grades K-5

Do you use Progress Monitor to enter assessment scores during the semester?

At the elementary level, grades are communicated through a standards-based report card. To track student progress, IC has a standards-based grading tool called Progress Monitor. This tool gives teachers an efficient way to score, track, and report each student's proficiency level. If you use Progress Monitor throughout the semester, follow the TIP Sheet video:

    • TIP Sheet | Video
Post Grades (K-5) with assessment scores in Progress Monitor

How do I post grades if I do NOT use Progress Monitor during the semester?

You must post report card grades with Progress Monitor. If you do not use the Progress Monitor to record assessment scores throughout the semester, follow the TIP Sheet or video:

    • TIP Sheet | Video
Post Grades (K-5) without assessment scores in Progress Monitor

Grades 6-12

When can I begin posting report card grades?

The "Post Grades" window opens 10-days prior to the end of the semester. Follow the TIP Sheet or video to review the steps for posting report card grades from your IC Grade Book:

Post Grades (6-12) with assignment scores in the IC Grade Book

Grades K-12

How can I view or print my students' report cards?

After your grades are posted on IC, it can be helpful (and reassuring) to view the report cards in the format received by students and parents. Follow the TIP Sheet to review the steps:

    • TIP Sheet
View or Print Report Cards (K-12) from the IC Reports menu

Why choose Gemini over ChatGPT?

You may have heard that "ChatGPT for Teachers" was released for free until 2027. Despite this offer, Google Gemini remains the preferred AI tool for NPAS due to superior integration and security. Gemini is natively built into Google Workspace (Docs, Drive, Slides, and Classroom), allowing for seamless content export and use. More importantly, our Google for Education Plus subscription guarantees that your data is protected by enterprise-grade security. I shared this slide at a recent middle school PD session. View the entire presentation for more information.

Polypad: Math Manipulatives

Polypad is a free tool for K-12 math teachers and students. This interactive platform offers a wide range of digital manipulatives, allowing students to visualize mathematical concepts and experiment with ideas. Teachers can get started by exploring an empty Polypad, browsing sample activities, or watching helpful tutorials. Watch the video below for a brief introduction.

Clever: Substitute Teachers

Did you know that substitute teachers, both long-term and short-term, have access to the Clever portal? This access allows them to utilize the same district and school resources as classroom teachers. Do you use the Teacher Page feature on Clever? If so, you can share your Teacher Page with your school’s substitute account. This will grant "view" access to the same bookmarks you post for your students. Follow this TIP Sheet for step-by-step instructions.

AI: Gemini in Chrome

Have you seen the Gemini logo in the upper-right corner of your Chrome browser? This innovative feature seamlessly integrates Gemini into your workflow, reading content from your current tab to help with complex tasks. It enhances efficiency by allowing you to summarize long articles quickly or adjust text complexity for various student reading levels. Give Gemini in Chrome a try today!

Chrome: Tabs & Split View

Missing your dual-monitor setup when working on your laptop away from your desk? Chrome's new Split View feature allows you to view two tabs side-by-side in one window. Give it a try today!

    1. Right-click a tab
    2. Add tab to split view
    3. Choose a tab

Staff Resources 2.0: Dashboard

The Staff Resources page is being redesigned with updated buttons and a new Systems Status Dashboard to enhance communication. The status icon provides instant feedback: a green light indicates all systems are operational, while a red light signals a reported outage. Clicking the icon will direct you to the Systems Status Dashboard for additional details.

Laptops: It's a Sticky Situation

Maintaining the longevity and professional appearance of our district-issued laptops is important, which is why we kindly ask staff to avoid placing stickers on their devices. This policy helps us model the same expectations we have for our students and their Chromebooks. Laptop components can get warm, causing sticker adhesive to melt, fuse, and leave behind a tough residue that is difficult for our technicians to remove when the devices are later repurposed for substitutes, loaners, or lease returns. If you wish to personalize your laptop, consider using vinyl adhesive skins or wraps, which are designed for easy removal without sticky damage.

Google Classroom: Student Groups

Google Classroom's new Student Groups feature is a game-changer for teachers looking to differentiate their instruction. With Student Groups, you can easily create customized learning experiences for different groups of students based on their needs, interests, or abilities. Assign specific materials, activities, or assessments to each group, ensuring that every student receives the support and challenges they need to succeed. Review this video tutorial for more information.
